    <title>The Way Back</title>
<desc>The epic journey of a group of escapees from a Siberian prison across the Himalayas to safety in India. In the wilds of Siberia, a gulag houses a variety of prisoners of different nationalities, who have been dumped there by the Soviet army for various trumped-up crimes. A Polish prisoner by the name of Janusz (Jim Sturgess), Smith (Ed Harris), an American, a Russian crook named Valka (Colin Farrell) and Khabrov (Mark Strong), an actor, amongst the throng of inmates, talk about the possibility of escape, with a plan which would see them travel from Russia across the plains to Mongolia. Seven of them put the plan into action, and manage to break out of the gulag to commence a treacherous journey into the wilderness. Along the way, they are joined by a teenage girl named Irena (Saoirse Ronan), whose story is not clear but her determination to get away from danger is. As many of the eight fall by the wayside, the resolve of the others is tested as hundreds of miles are walked towards freedom.</desc>
